NB made it 3 wins in a row with a 10:8 victory on the road at Dunfermline. The win lifts NB to 4th in national league 4.
NB started strongly with multi phase possession and forward gain line momentum . When Iain Dove took the ball on he broke 3 tackles and from the resultant ruck the ball went to Alex Williams to jink over for a try. Williams converted and it was 0:7 to NB after 5 mins. Dunfermline responded well with a similar dominant forward carry multi phase play but the NB defence was well organised and strong. A number of unforced errors by both teams saw a high scrum count and it was Dunfermline who had the edge in the drum battle. They were rewarded on 25 minutes when a forward moving scrum allowed the scrum half to pick up and go over in the corner . The conversion was missed 5:7 to NB at half time. NB had more possession at the start of the 2nd half and looked as if they would add points, however they lost control at crucial moments. It was Dunfermline that took the lead with a penalty kick on 65 minutes. Despite pressure NB couldn’t find their way over the Dunfermline line but this side seems to know how to win and never gave up. Dunfermline were penalised on the 10 metre line and on 79 minutes Alex Williams stepped up to slot the 3 points and put NB into the lead. NB gathered the ball from the kick off drove forward and when the ball emerged they cleared to touch to take the win.
