Ross High vs North Berwick Match report

Ross High said they would submit the match report so i will leave them to do that. Headlines from our side were:-
- Both teams promoted last year finishing 1st and 2nd in East 1 - one each in the matches against each other last year so expected to be tight as the picked up in National Division 4. That proved to be the case with each team scoring 4 tries but NB having 2 successful penalty kicks put the final score at 26-32 to NB.

- NB have maximum points after 2 games with Ross High getting off the mark , picking up a 2 points with 1 point for 4 tries and another for score line being within 7.

- Ross high took the advantage of playing downhill in first half but after early attacks it was NB who took the lead with a penalty kick on 15 mins after a solid defensive set and Ross high penalised for holding onto the ball.

- Ross High responded quickly just after the restart gathering the ball from the KO and some good offload passing saw the No 8 find the gap and go in for a try. conversion good and 7-3 Ross High.

- Both teams continued to throw themselves into the game with quick ball recycling and NB responded on 22 mins when quick hands from the ruck saw Jamie March go over in the top corner. 7-10 NB.

- similar to before it didn't take long for Ross High to respond with passing out wide resulting in the full back going over for their 2nd Try. 14-10.

- the back and forth continued with sustained pressure from NB saw Scrum half Jack Hall take a 5 meter tap penalty and supported by the pack crashed over for NB the 2nd try14-17 to NB at break and time for the players and crowd to draw breath.

- NB had the benefit of the slope and made that tell pinning RH in their own half from the restart. Great ball retention , ruck after rusk provided the platform for the ball to be released to standoff Alex Williams to jink over for the try scoring to recommence. 14-22 NB.

- in the 55th minute NB again broke the RH line with similar well worked set up in the RH 22. Woody Martin found a gap and went over for another try . 14-29 NB.

- surprisingly the score board went quite as both teams held each other despite a yellow card for the RH no8 for persistent offences. NB were also the recipient of 2 yellow cards as the tackle height was penalised too many times. Ross High took advantage and with 10 minutes remaining on the clock scored a try after sustained pressure 21-29 RH. RH were spurred on and with 5 minutes to go went over for their 4th try and close the gap to 26-29. All to play for as NB restarted. A high ball was dropped just outside the RH 22 and from the scrum NB regained control and were award a penalty. they took the shot at the posts and pushed the score out to 26-32.

- 1 minute remaining and the ball was kicked to into the NB 22. a cover chase resulted and STU Lorimer , captaining the NB side got to the ball first dummied the RH defended and burst 40 yards down the line to relieve the pressure. His kick found touch deep in Rh half and that was time.

A good display by both teams , in very warn conditions but NB take the spoils.
