Surprisingly mild, sunny weather greeted us to Linlithgow, pitch was looking great as always, a young & very capable referee was in charge, what could possibly go wrong?
Well in short, one of the heaviest defeats for NB in living memory. But it has to be made clear not from any lack of effort on behalf of the players, there were individual signs of skill & fortitude, they were well led and kept playing until the last minute, but simply overwhelmed by a strong, running Linlithgow side who smelled blood from the kick-off and went for the jugular.
For the record 41 – 0 at half time, pretty much more of the same in the second half, but a late yellow card against Linlithgow reduced the pressure slightly before a very welcome final whistle.
Many thanks not only to the NB stalwarts who suffer this week after week, but also to the friends & friends of friends who have been drafted in to man the pumps. I just hope that they manage to take this as one of life’s learning experiences and simply grin & bear it and come back for more.
Man of the match was awarded to Eck Allan
