Job Title Youth Development Officer – North Berwick Rugby
Responsible To NBHS SOR Lead / NBRFC Head of Rugby
Hours 20 hours per week (average)
Salary £12,500 (equivalent to £12 / hour)
Job Purpose
North Berwick Rugby have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to play a key part in the development of youth rugby within the North Berwick community.
The position is with North Berwick Rugby Football Club (NBRFC) and North Berwick High School (School of Rugby), working in partnership with Scottish Rugby. You will be responsible for delivering our vision of developing a thriving youth programme for boys and girls (mini to U18 Colts) that ensures that North Berwick Youth Rugby is aligned, productive and sustainable within the community.
Principal Responsibilities
• Manage and deliver rugby taster sessions and festivals for the five cluster primary schools in the North Berwick Cluster as part of a holistic rugby development plan.
• Co-ordinate the North Berwick High School of Rugby Programme under the guidance of the School of Rugby Lead.
• Work in partnership with school volunteer coaches and volunteer staff to deliver school rugby sessions and fixtures at five age groups (S1-U18).
• Collaborate with the girls rugby convener to grow and develop the girls section into a sustainable, successful and vibrant part of the club.
• Support the NBRFC mini section through coach development and aligning primary school activity to the mini section.
• Liaise with Scottish Rugby to ensure continued professional development (CPD), and adherence to Scottish Rugby initiatives.
• Help secure and develop new coaching volunteers from within the community while aligning all coaches to the NBHS SOR vision.
• Provide CPD sessions to the North Berwick mini and Youth Coaches in co-operation with Scottish Rugby’s Training and Education department.
• Deliver quality, planned and relevant sessions consistent with NBRFC, North Berwick High School and Scottish Rugby’s standards.
• Develop and maintain good working relationships with all partners, stakeholders and key contacts.
Post Holder Requirements
• Experience of coaching rugby. Alternative candidates who have played (or are playing) rugby at a competitive level; or have experience coaching other sports will be considered.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• A proactive self-starter with a flexible approach to work. Regular weekend work will be required, in particular Saturday mornings for Mini & then Youth rugby.
• A driving license.
• PVG for working with young children.
• A minimum of both UKCC Level 1 and UKCC level 2 Coaching Qualification or equivalent.
• This post is considered to be Regulated Work with children and vulnerable adults in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) (PVG) Act 2007
