The SRU have kindly posted a note on their website and in that President Jim is quoted as saying that "all of our lives changed the day Jonny was injured and he’s been in our thoughts since that day and he will remain there.”
That is especially true for all the players involved in the game against Hawick Linden in September 2005, but all the more so for Jonny's family - his wife, Joanne and their two daughters, and his mother Lynne.
Jonny was passionate about the game of rugby and whenever he returned to watch his beloved NBRFC, was never afraid to offer "constructive" criticism of the team's and certain individuals' performances.
Having skippered the side for three seasons, from the age of 20, he took enormous pride in the success of the club and was in the stand to see the team lift the Regional Bowl in 2010.
Jonny died peacefully, just after midnight last night.
The funeral service will take place at St. Andrews Blackadder Church at 11.15am on Tuesday 3rd April, followed by a commital at North Berwick cemetery. There will then be food and refreshments at the Rugby Club to which all friends, family and good rugby folk are invited.
As regards formalities, please note that it is family flowers only and NO BLACK TIES.
Also, there will be a retiral collection to be split between the Friends of the Edington Hospital and the rugby charity, Hearts and Balls.
